Bugio Trail
Walking along Rigesa's Bugio conservation trail on the Duas Barras ranch in Três Barras, SC, is an enriching experience.
The educational trail came about from a partnership between Rigesa and the "Universidade do Contestado". Its purpose is to show visitors the important aspects of each forest species as well as the natural forest recuperation process.
Visitors to the trail will find a striking example of a forest regenerating after human interference. Here, in the 1920's, one of the best examples of araucária and imbuia forests was cut down.
Various enjoyable, environmentally focused activities are possible through contact and interaction with the forest, and visitors' understanding of forest conservation is increased.
The 1000-meter trail is named after the largest species of monkey found in an araucária forest, a species currently threatened with extinction. The Bugio monkey's loud, strong grunting is a sound characteristic of a well preserved forest.
A guidebook containing information on the region's flora and fauna is distributed to visitors to aid in the identification and understanding of important points of interest on the Bugio Trail. The project plan includes the future construction of a meeting room with all the amenities visitors need.
Rigesa is very proud to actively participate in the creative usage of the Bugio Trail. It is one more proof of what an organized society can do for the environment, and of the fact that the road to preservation lies through education and ecological enlightenment.
