Cooperative Forest Management

The Cooperative Forest Management program has been active for over twenty years. Its goal is to promote and spread forest activity, emphasizing the forest's economic and ecological importance.

The donation of pine seedlings plus technical advice on improved planting techniques has given a lot of confidence to small business owners and small farmers in the wood sector. This is a win-win business for producers, the environment and companies using wood as a raw material in their processes.

There are 45 to 50 thousand hectares of available land in the towns along the border of the Brazilian states of Santa Catarina and Paraná where the project was first implemented. This land, if well used, has the potential to double future wood resources.

Today, 2,500,000 pine saplings are distributed annually, and more than 1,500 producers have benefited from the program.
