Stacking Corrugated Cardboard Packages I
Stacking methods have a direct effect on box specifications and costs, and are critical factors related to cardboard packaging performance. The following hints are fundamental for the easiest and most beneficial use of corrugated cardboard at loading time. Look at the right hand pile in the figure at the side. This stacking method is correct when the layers are aligned vertically, forming a single column, because the corners alone do 80% of the work in supporting the packaging weight. If the layers are 13 mm out of align, as shown in the left-hand pile, up to 29% of the package compression resistance can be lost. This results in the need for higher box specifications that will use more raw materials. A well-sized and well-stacked corrugated cardboard box reduces the amount of raw material used, package weight and product shipment weight thereby reducing your costs!
