Rigesa promotes its 6th Environmental Education Seminar - Jul 4, 2006 - 12:13:00 PM

The 6th Environmental Education Seminar, sponsored by Rigesa, will begin on June 8th at the Rigesa manufacturing sites, to be attended by more than 500 4th and 5th grade teachers of the public and private education system. As suggested by attending teachers in 2005, the topic this year will be Education Agenda 21.The seminar activities will be conducted by the Associação Super Eco de Integração Ambiental e de Desenvolvimento da Criançaand by Sociedade de Pesquisa em Vida Selvagem e Educação Ambiental (SPVS), both NGOs with focus on Environmental Education.
The teachers attending the seminar will receive a kit with materials to help develop Environmental Education projects. Later this year each attendee will receive the game Cidade das Dimensões, the book Aqui, Ali e em Qualquer Lugar, by Patrícia Secco, and the three book set Nossa Identidade Pessoas e Personagens do Nosso Brasil, to encourage children to read by introducing them to important Brazilian writers.
Since the beginning of the year the enrolled schools have been receiving on a monthly basis the Jornal de Educação Ambiental by Rigesa Rigevida, as supporting material for student activities. Currently, 25 thousand students in cities where Rigesa has manufacturing sites are benefited by the materials.
The event is part of the environmental education activities developed by the company to create awareness and instill environmental values in Rigesa's employees and in the communities around its plant sites.

¨ 25 thousand students receive the Rigevida publication on a monthly basis;
¨ 82 thousand children¿s books are distributed to schools and employee children.
