Rigesa’s capacity expansion in Brasil under study - Mar 6, 2006 - 12:15:00 PM
Rigesa Ltda., a subsidiary company of the American MeadWestvaco Corporation, announced today its plans to start a feasibility study to expand its business in Brazil by producing paperboard. The company is exploring options to expand the production of its paper plant located in the town of Tręs Barras, state of Santa Catarina (Brazil),currently producing kraftliner paper only. The expansion plans contemplate the production of high-quality paperboard. This potential expansion in Brazil would further reinforce the global leadership position of MeadWestvaco in high-quality paperboard used in high-end products with added value, such as packaging for liquids, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. Rigesa has a history of success in corrugated paper and paperboard packaging and the study is a natural extension of its strong competitive position in the Brazilian market. The study should be completed before the end of this year. Our success throughout the years supports additional investments for growth in Brazil, says the Rigesa President Paulo Tilkian. Rigesa achieved leading positions in the Brazilian market of corrugated paper and consumer packaging made of paperboard. Our strong performance in these markets plus the advantages of manufacturing paperboard in Brazil, will help Rigesa to further strengthen the MeadWestvaco position in the paperboard global market.
