During the month of June, in the cities where it operates - Valinhos (Sao Paulo), Manaus (Amazonas), Blumenau and Três Barras (Santa Catarina), Pacajus (Ceará) and Feira de Santana (Bahia), Rigesa will be staging the "7th Rigesa Environmental Seminar" for more than 500 5th grade teachers from schools in private, state and municipal educational establishments. This year, the seminar will build upon the themes of the previous six seminars and the program will focus on the sensitization of environmental education processes so that the practice may occur in a natural, continuous and permanent way in all school activities, originating with the individual, and it should promote the sharing of experiences among participants, the awareness and integration of common actions and projects. The seminar's activities will be conducted by the team from the Super Eco Association for Environmental Integration and Child Development and by the SPVS - Society for Wildlife Research and Environmental Education, both of which are non-governmental organizations specializing in Environmental Education. This year, Rigesa comes with two new ideas. In addition to the seminar and Rigevida, the event will see the launch of the Rigesa Environmental Award and a diagnosis and monitoring project throughout the year, with the schools which are participating in the seminar. The educators who participate in the event will receive the following books sponsored by Rigesa, "Sem Fronteiras" (No Frontiers) by author Patrícia Secco, and "Ser Educação Ambiental: uma transformação pela Terra" (The Nature of Environmental: a transformation by the Earth). From the start of the year, the schools participating in the seminar have been receiving each month the Rigevida - Environmental Journal, to help with student activities. Thirty thousand students, in cities where the Rigesa factories are located, are currently benefiting from this material. To commemorate World Environment Day, at 8 a.m. on June 5th, simultaneously in all Rigesa's factories, the official opening of the event will take place, with the raising of the flags belonging to the respective municipalities and of Brazil. The event forms part of the environmental activities developed by the company, which seek to arouse and develop environmental values in its staff and the communities in the vicinity of its factories. A few numbers: 1,800 trained teachers since 2001; 500 schools involved; 30 thousand students receive the Rigevida journal every month; 100 thousand children¿s books distributed to schools and children of staff.
