Rigesa won second place in the Corporate Excellence Award 2009, for Best Project Social and Environmental Sustainability, with the project "Use of sludge from wastewater treatment Industrial Wastewater and biomass" was applied in Valinhos,SP, and Três Barras,SC, paper mills.
The award, sponsored by Ciesp Campinas - Center of Industries of Sao Paulo State, recognizes the best business practices of sustainability.
According to Manager of Corporate Environmental, Ana Maria Pataro, this project will allow us to produce energy through the reuse of a material that was previously buried, preventing the deployment of some 1100 tonnes per month of industrial sludge to the landfill. As a result, help increase the life of landfills, while reducing the cost of waste disposal, CO2 emissions, consumption of electricity, among other benefits.
"The design of Rigesa is one example of our continuing drive for sustainable technologies to minimize impacts of our industrial production and promote sustainable development," said Jose Luiz Vegette, Corporate Director.
